The History of SPC
Semi Popular Clothing started in Southern California in 2008
by Hunter Hill and Chad Gillespie. SPC has been in the works for quite some time. Hunter decided when he was just a sophomore in high school that he was going to start this company. He would spend his spare time in the computer lab designing or sketching ideas in his notebook. He got his break when he landed an internship in the Design Dept of Hurley International. This internship lead to Hunter working in the marketing, merchandising and sales dept of Hurley, as well as designing for other companies such as Ambiguous Clothing, Nirve Sports, Paul Frank, Hello Kitty and Robert August. While all this was happening Hunter’s dreams of SPC fell to the bottom of his to do list, He began looking for someone who shared the same drive and passion to join him in the creation of SPC. Chad Gillespie was that person, Chad whose background was mostly in the music industry had the passion,
creativity, and fire to get things moving. Only one day after them partnering up Chad got the wheels moving. Together they hope to start one of the next big surf culture companies remembering to always be hungry and always be humble.
